Sleep Training: Night 3

After the night I had on Thursday I was totally ready to give up on sleep training and just forget about whole thing.  But after talking with my hubby and all of your encouraging words.  I decided I needed to keep at it and not give up.  So the sleep training continues!

After the night I had last night I am feeling more confident then ever.
A blog friend of mine Robyn at Live, Love & Lorelai recommended that I try "dreamfeed" with Keira.  I checked out the link that she sent me and thought what the hell I'll give it a try what do I have to lose?!
(dreamfeed is is referred to as the "late evening feeding". The dreamfeed is typically between 10-11 PM)

Here's the link to the website that Robyn gave me in case other mommies are having the same problem that I am and want to give this a try. http://www.babywisemom.com/2009/07/dreamfeed-fa.html

So last night she had a bath, I put her in her jammies and gave her her bottle at 8:30.  I did the dream feed at 10:30 when we went up to bed, she drank it all. (she was still sleeping when I gave her the bottle).  Then at around 11:30 I heard her start to cry a little bit and got up gave her her pacifier and she went right back to sleep.  THANK GOD!  I was thinking it was going to be bad and she was going to be awake.

I fell back asleep and I didn't hear that sweet little voice until 6am this morning!  Last night was AMAZING.  I also changed her nap time schedule to see if that would help with sleeping at night too.  Her old nap schedule was 1st nap at 12 - 2:30 and then she would fall asleep around 5:30 for an hour.  I think that last night that she was wanting to take might have been the problem.  So her new nap schedule is 1st nap is around 9:30am and then her 2nd nap will be around 2:30pm.  I tried this nap schedule with her yesterday and it worked great and I think it might have been why she slept so good last night.

So we are going to keep with this nap schedule and with the "dreamfeeding" and hope for the best.
After last night I am feeling very confident and well rested.  YAY

Thank you ladies again for all your encouraging words and advise.

  1. YAY! That's so exciting, congratulations! That sounds almost like what my parents used to do when we were being potty trained! They would take us to potty before we would go to bed, then they would take us again before they went to bed...we never wet the bed or had potty issues!!! :-)

  2. Yay! Yeah, I bet some of the problem was that late day nap. I've been keeping Brielle up instead of doing a 4pm nap like she used to and she is cranky/tired the last hour or so before bed but at least she's super tired and just falls right asleep once I lay her down at night :-)

  6. I am SO glad it was a good night! I read the Babywise book and use some of the principles from it. The blog is also a big help for reading about what others have done.
