Our Family Beach Vacation Part I

Since we were at the beach for a whole week and I took like a million pictures, ok not a million but I'm going to break it up into 3 posts.

Monday:  The morning we were suppose to be leaving I finished packing up all our stuff while Jason got gas and got the car washed.  I then got myself and the girls all ready, we ate some lunch and then headed out.  It was about a 2 hour drive and the girls didn't take a nap that afternoon, so we were hoping that maybe they'd take a nap on the way.  I cant remember the last time my girls slept in the car so I knew deep down that they weren't going to sleep.  They watched a Monsters,Inc. on the DVD player and were really good the whole trip.  Grandma arrived with Uncle Patrick 10 minutes before we got there.  We unloaded our truck, got settled into our room and then headed to the beach.  The weather so nice but a little chilly. The girls walked down to the water and ran right back up cause the water was way to COLD!  We played in the sand for a little bit before heading back to our room to change and get ready for dinner on the wharf.  The girls did good at dinner and dinner was pretty good but my hamburger I ate gave me the worst case of heartburn I've ever had (I've never gotten heartburn while prego).  We had a good first day!

Tuesday: The girls woke up bright and early at 6:30am, mommy was definetly not ready to be awake that early on vacation. So I left the girls in their room to hang out and then finally get them up around 7:15am.  I got them up and they watched some cartoons and ate some breakfast while I got ready.
After I was done getting ready I got the girls dressed.  Before leaving I wanted to get a pictures with the girls so that it looked like I was on this vacation too.  After taking our picture we went to walk around the pier, we noticed a huge group a kids and realized that all these kids were doing LifeGuard Training.  Grandma met up with us (side note: Keira is a huge grandma's girl).  Keira was sitting in her stroller and when she saw grandma she got super excited, grandma decided to take her out.  Jason told her that that would be a bad idea, cause Keira wouldn't want to go back in the stroller without throwing a fit.  We walked around a little more.  Then we were going to be walking around the streets and she needed to go back into her stroller.  So I put her back in her stroller and she threw the biggest tantrum she's ever thrown.  She screamed and cried for over 45 minutes.  We had to walk out of town so people wouldn't look at us funny.  Grandma felt bad so she decided to let us walk head and that she'd met us at the kite shop.  About 15 minutes later she was back and Keira was happy as can be, kinda.  Jason told Kaylee before we left that we could go get her a kite while we were there and she didn't forget about it.  She picked out her kite and we headed to the beach to fly it cause it was pretty breezy.

After getting some lunch at Pizza Paradise we headed back to our room and ate our pizza and then put the girls to bed.  While the girls napped Jason and I watched some TV and just relaxed.  Once the girls woke up from their nap, we got them changed cause the weather had warmed up and headed to the beach.  The second time at the beach I left my camera in the room so that I could enjoy time with family.  The girls had a great time building sand castles and playing in the sand, sometimes throwing it at each other but none the less they had a great time.  I was a bad mom and fotgot to put sunscreen on the girls and poor Keira got a sunburn.  I felt bad.  After the beach we went back and changed back into our clothes from that morning and headed out to dinner.  We ate at Margaritaville, it was good and after dinner we walked around the corner to get some ice cream.  The girls each got their own ice cream and fed themselves (this was their first time eating ice cream by themselves).  We sat on the beach to eat our ice cream before heading back to our room to change into jammies and head for bed.

  2. The beach looks awesome! Can't wait to see the rest of the pictures. I just started getting heartburn this week in the middle of the night. I had it bad with Kyla though. Kyla is the same way in the shopping cart. If you take her out, there's no way she's going back in. We learned that the hard way at Target!

  8. Love the photos, Joeylee! It's amazing how a photo could capture one moment, and keep it forever, isn't it? This beach looks like one of those beaches that I usually see in romantic movies. A vacation like this is a must-do every year just to release stress and other odd feelings. Nothing compares to the fresh smell of the air at the beach. Thanks for sharing this. I'd love to see more awesome photos from you. Cheers!
