How Kendall & I are coping with her being at school

Were a month into the school year and we are finally in a routine.
The first few weeks of school was a big adjustment for both Kendall and I.  She is a huge mama's girl so her leaving me all day was hard on not only her but me as well.  The thought of not having her by my side all day was gut wrenching.  I knew this day would come but it feels like it came to fast.  I feel like her starting school meant my image of her being my baby was gone, she's a big girl now. It meant my day would be filled with less laughter, less questions and it meant I could pee by myself!

Her first 4 days of school, she was so excited to go and I was excited for her.  She had talked about making lots of new friends and all the fun she had, which made me happy.  We made it 3 days into week 2 before she started crying when it was time for me to leave her, it broke this mama's heart.  Seeing her cry and reach out for me was heart breaking and it made me want to scoop her up and take her home with me.  But her sweet teacher would email me and let me know that 10 minutes after I left she was totally fine, laughing and having fun.  Which made me feel so much better.  Knowing that she has an amazing teacher made it easier for me as well as her.

Going into week 3 I asked for some advice from my followers on instagramers for tips to make her comfortable and get her to not cry when I left, I got some great tips and a lot of them said the same thing.  So for week 3 she picked out one of her small Chelsea Barbie dolls and took her to school with her, while she waited in line before going into class, she would take her barbie out, stroke her hair and it would calm her down.  It allowed us both to walk into class, unpack her bag and me leave without any crying.  It's been 2 weeks with her mini barbie and things have been going great.   There hasn't been any crying at drop off and it's been going smooth.

This week she told that her Barbie wasn't working anymore and I knew I needed to come up with a new idea cause she started crying when I would leave.  So instead she is wearing a necklace of mine, its a mini lock and I have the heart and I tell her that I'm with her all day long.  She's worn the past 2 days and we've been good.  I get a hug and kiss and a see you after school mommy.  It makes me leaving her so much easier when I know she's happy.

Since school has started she's able to write her name all be herself, cut and glue, she's gone to the library to pick out books, she plays on the playground with her friends, she's bought lunch for the first time, she's painted lots of pictures and she got her 1st homework packet this week.  It's been so much fun to see how much she's grown in only a month of school being in.

Hurrican Harvey - Pray for Texas

WOW, wow is all that comes to mind.
Seeing all the instagram pictures/videos of Houston and the surrounding areas has me so sad.  I cant imagine what those families are going through.  We have a house in Texas and lived there for a little over 2 years and it will always hold a little place in my heart.  Our house wasn't near the hurricane but I feel like I need to spread the word.  One of my best friends from high school had to move there stuff to their upstairs and leave their house, I hope that the water didn't enter their house and they can go back to it.

On Monday we packed our backpacks with all our supplies, picked out our first day of school outfits, got there lunches ready and even painted our nails.  The girls were both anxious and excited to start school this morning.  Mom on the other hand, her stomach was in knots.  I had this feeling sending the two older girls off to school for the first time and today I send my last "baby" to school.  She's leaving me to become a big girl.  After dropping off my sweet girl, this mom may have sat in her car in the parking lot for a good ten minutes and had a little cry sesh!  Totally normal right?!

After I left the school I ran some errands alone (which was a little weird not having my side kick), then came home and did a little cleaning.  I mean it was a little too quiet not having someone asking me a million questions or making me laugh!  At least after I clean the house, it'll stay that way since there all gone at school all day!  I was excited to leave and go pick them to hear all about there day.  They had an early release day today, Kendall's class came out first and she almost made me cry again, she came running out as fast as she could and gave me the biggest hug, which this mama needed.  I missed my sweet girl.  Her older sisters followed right behind.

We got in the car and I was totally excited to hear all about there day.
Kaylee - she made a new friend today (Kylie) and she's excited to have her best friend Luke in her class again.  She said her teacher is really nice.  They made special dough, which she is pretty excited about it.  They didn't do too much work today she said and she thinks homework starts tomorrow!

Keira - her best friend Avery is in her class again, which she is happy about.  Keira thought it was awesome that she gets her own desk to put all her stuff in.  They did a little bit of work and the teacher read some books to them.

Kendall - she got to color a hat they made that says "I rocked my first day of TK", they got to build stuff with blocks, play, and even rest while listening to music.  She did say she cried a little bit after I left this morning cause she missed me.

I am so glad they each had a good day and I'm excited for the school year.

She's a "dino"mite gal

Yes I did reference a quote from Wreck it Ralph, when you've seen the movie a million times it was only fitting.  Kendall loves dinosaurs, like loves them, so what does a mom do?  She calls her mom (Mimi) and asks if she can make her grandbaby a custom dino dress.  My mom has been sewing and making clothes since I was little and I told her over the years that she needed to open a shop, last year she finally opened it and its been going great! (go give her a follow on IG bugs.boutique). To complete the amazing dino dress, my mom had Mimi_makes make Kendall a matching bow, it turned out perfect.  Nothing completes the outfit like a custom pair of dino earrings from our favorite earring shop pisces prisms

Also can I talk a minute about my "baby" heading off to school in 5 days!  I'm still looking for the mom group for us moms who are in denial that our kids are growing up, if I ever find it, I'll let all you mom know!  I'm trying not to think about her going cause I might actually start crying.  I know the tears will come after I drop her off on Tuesday morning!  Although age 4 has had our trials its been so much fun, I'm going to miss her asking me a ton of questions, her telling me she's hungry every 5 minutes, all the snuggles I could ask for.  She's been my little sidekick for the last 4.5 years and now for 6 hours a day, 5 days a week I'll be kid free!  I'm not sure how I feel, in a way I'm like yes, I can clean the house and it will actually stay clean, run errands easier but on the other hand I'm sad.  I'll miss our laughs, our starbucks dates and sneaking down the hall to watch her quietly playing with her babies or Barbies.  She is more than excited to go to school and make some new friends and for that I'm excited for her too.  I know she'll do awesome and she'll learn so much, I guess its hard for me to let go, she's my baby!
