Sorry, no dating till your 30!

Sorry boys....
Daddy says I can't date until I'm 30!

While walking through WalMart one afternoon, I saw this onesie and knew that I just had to get it.  When talking with anyone about my girls, Jason and I alway joke about them not being able to date until their 30.  I know I have many years before I have to start thinking about my girls dating, but even knowing I have years that doesn't stop my brain from thinking about it all the time.

In today's society is just seems like kids are dating younger and younger {and also getting pregnant younger and younger}.  I don't know if I would be ready for my girls to start dating at 14 that just seems way to young to me.  Heck I wasn't even really thinking about boys at 14, don't get me wrong I had my crushes and boys that I liked but I never thought about dating them.

Kendall doesn't like the idea of not dating till she's 30!

Its hard for me as a parent to even imagine my girls dating right now, but I know its bound to happen.  I'm glad I have years to prepare myself for it.  The thing I worry most about my girls dating is them getting their heart broken.  No parent wants that for their kids, but I know its going to happen.  Its a part of life.  I say this cause I know they are not going to find their one true love with their very first boyfriend, I mean if they did that would be awesome.  My hope is my girls date nice boys and if they happen to break up I hope its a nice break up.  Is there such a thing as a nice break up?  I hope my girls always know that I'm hear for them and that they also have each other to lean on.

Jason always jokes that when boys come to the door to pick up the girls for their first date he's going to answer the door in his underwear holding a gun!  He wants to embaress the girls so the boys just leave!  Some days I don't even want to think about them dating and then other times I think about them falling in love and be treating with prespect and kindness.  I want them to experience those butterflies in their stomach when the doorbell rings and their date is waiting on the other side of the door, I want them to have fun.  I want them to come back and tell me how much fun they had and that the boy treated them right.

Again I'm just glad I have years to prepare myself before I have to even think about my girls wanting to date!  The other thing about them dating is worrying as soon as they leave that nothing bad will happen to them, that they have fun and the worry and relief will go away once they walk through the front door.  Cheers to having years before I have to start thinking or worrying about dating!!!

  1. Aww, such sweet photos. I worry about dating too. I'm sure its different with boys than with girls, but the worry and wonder is there regardless. So glad we have many years before that is an issue. :-)

  3. I don't even want to think of my girls dating either. Totally overwhelming. And yes, I do think there is such thing as a nice break-up. I've experienced it once, and I hope my girls get those kind of break-ups when they are grown up.

  5. I think I was 16 when I started to date...but nothing serious. I know if I had girls I would be the same as you...and so worried b/c you want them to have fun but you don't want to get hurt or taken advantage of...I'm going to raise my boys to be respectful gentleman hopefully they will be that in their teenage years!
