Keira is potty trained!!

KEIRA IS POTTY TRAINED!!

Keira's potty training journey has been a lot different from Kaylee's potty training journey.  It's so true when they say each kid is different, each pregnancy with that child is different and man is that so right.  Kaylee was ready and we started potty training at 19 months old, she caught on really quickly and was potty trained within a week.  In the beginning with her it was little hard, she did have accidents, I didn't expect her not to.  When it came to Keira, she was so different than Kaylee.  Keira hit 20 months old and I decided to try with her, the problem was this kid wanted NOTHING to do with it at all!  She was in LOVE with her diapers and the near mention of undies, she would scream her head off.  I knew at that time she wasn't ready.  I didn't want to push her and make the experience for both of us horrible, so I let it go.

A couple months had passed, she turned 2 and I thought we would slowly start trying again.  She still wasn't ready at all.  She wouldn't tell me she had to go.  She would let me know after she went cause she didn't like sitting in a wet diaper.  With a little bribery we could get her to wear undies for a short period of time, like 10 minutes and then she would want them off and to put her diaper back on.  I again didn't want to push it, I wanted her to be ready and not put up a fight each time.  So I decided to put it off and ask her periodically if she wanted to wear undies, sometimes she would say yes but most of the time she would say no.  We continued this for awhile, it worked for us.

We hit 32 months old, we were done with our family beach house trip and we needed to get on this potty training thing.  She was slowly starting to tell me that she needed to go and she would sit on the potty but at times I think she was afraid to just let it go.  While we were at the beach house she actually told me she needed to go and she actually went, everyone cheered for her and from there we knew she was ready.

Tuesday 6.25.13 we started her potty training journey.  On that first day she went commando pretty much all day {she wore a diaper at nap time}.  She did pretty well.  She peed in the potty 3 times and had 2 small accidents.  It's like she started to have an accident and would stop herself and run out to tell me she needed to potty.  I would ask her every half hour if she needed to go or she would tell me when she had to go.  The first time she went potty, Kaylee and I were in the bathroom with her.  When she was all done, we've never cheered so loud for her.  She loved it and ate it up.  Once she was done, she got an oreo cookie.  The problem was I needed to get something else instead of giving her an oreo each time.  So day one went pretty good.

Wednesday 6.26.13 we started the morning off great, she woke up with a slightly wet diaper so we sat on the potty and she went. YAY.  I told her that when we went to the store later that morning we would get her some treats.  About an hour after breakfast she said she had to go potty again, she went.  We were headed out to the grocery store and I wasn't sure if I should let her wear undies or put her in a diaper, I went with a diaper.  We were at the store for about an hour in half {grocery shopping} and when we got home, I checked her and she was still dry, so we went into the potty and she went..this time she got one M&M.  They ate breakfast and she went potty again before nap time, another M&M.  During nap time I made her potty chart, each time she goes potty she gets to put a sticker on her chart and she gets one M&M {2 M&Ms for going #2}.  She took a 3 hour nap and woke up a little wet, we sat on the potty and she went.  She went potty 2 more times between after nap and bedtime.  The best news of all she had NO ACCIDENTS!!  I am so proud of my girl, I cant believe how good she is doing.

I love that Kaylee is her biggest cheerleader.  I think this potty training journey just might bring them a little closer together.  Kaylee is always making sure to ask her if she needs to go potty and reminding her if she needs to go that she has to tell mommy.  It's so cute.

Thursday 6.27.13

Today was pretty much the same as the other days, wake up go potty, put on undies and go about our day.  This day we even ventured out of the house and met daddy for lunch at grandma's house.  It's a 10 minute drive and while there and playing she told me she had to potty and actually went.  The only time she wears diapers is at nap and bedtime {she still wakes up wet}.  She had a great day!  It's crazy how a couple months ago she wanted nothing to do with this whole potty training thing and now something in her just clicked.  YAY

Friday 6.28.13

She continued to do awesome and we continued with lots of praise and good job.  She loves the stickers and the one M&M.  This day was a little different than the rest cause little miss went #2 on the potty.  I know with Kaylee it took her a long time before she would go #2 on the potty.  She was so excited cause that meant she got 2 M&Ms and 2 stickers.  I cant believe how easy it has been.  On the first day she had 2 accidents and since then she's had NONE.

Saturday 6.29.13 & Sunday 6.30.13

Both these days we ventured out to grandma's to swim and run some other errands and she stayed dry the whole time.  While grandma's we swam and instead of running into grandma's house wet each time she went and peed on the grass {I don't know if I should be sharing that or not}.  After running a few errands we stopped by our new house {Jason's parents are building a new house and we are moving into it at the end of this month}.  We went over there to measure and she did great there too.

I am so happy to say that my 2.5 year old is finally potty trained and now I only have to change once little person's diapers!  Hallelujah!!!

  3. Yay Keira!

Brielle is driving me crazy. She was potty trained for *3 weeks* and then the little shit started telling me she wanted to be a baby again and she started peeing her pants! ugh...Now she just doesn't even seem to care anymore. She'll go and stay dry all day if I remind her but otherwise she likes to pee her pants and then tell me. She's nuts lol.
